Creator Terms
Version 2026-08-01 (rev. 1)
These terms apply when you publish a game on TipTap Games, operated by Quads Lab LLC(“we”, “us”). They are separate from the Terms of Service, which cover using the site.
The short version
Your game stays yours. You give us permission to run it — to store it, serve it to players, and do the technical work that makes it playable here. We don't take ownership, we don't take exclusivity, and you can publish it anywhere else you like. You can take it down whenever you want.
1. You keep your game
You own your game and everything in it. Nothing here transfers ownership, and the permission you give us is non-exclusive — you keep every right to publish, sell, license or change your game anywhere else, at any time, without asking us.
2. What you allow us to do
You grant Quads Lab LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to do the following with a game you publish, for the purpose of operating and promoting TipTap Games:
- Store and copy it, including backups and copies held by the infrastructure providers we use to run the site.
- Serve it to players and show it publicly — in the feed, on your profile, in search, in categories, and on surfaces where TipTap Games is embedded, such as inside Discord.
- Modify it as needed to run it.This is the one people are surprised by, so plainly: we insert our own code into your game before serving it, so that scores, leaderboards, pausing and saving work. We may also update your game's code to keep it working when the platform changes, and convert or compress it for delivery. We will not change what your game is.
- Run it automatically — we execute your game on our own servers to check it before review and to catch games that crash, hang, or never record a score.
- Make images and clips of it for covers, link previews and similar — including previews shown on other sites when someone shares a link to your game.
- Feature it in promotion of TipTap Games, using its title, cover and your creator name.
- Pass these permissions on only to the providers who host, deliver or secure the site on our behalf, and only so they can do that job.
3. What we will not do
- We will not claim ownership of your game.
- We will not ask for exclusivity, or stop you publishing it elsewhere.
- We will not sell your game, or licence it to third parties to sell.
- We will not keep serving it after you remove it, beyond the short technical period described in section 6.
4. AI and machine learning
The permission in section 2 includes using published games to train, fine-tune or evaluate machine-learning models, and as examples given to a model. You can opt out, for your whole account or for a single game, in your creator settings and when you publish. Opting out costs you nothing else — your game is treated exactly the same in every other way.
We will keep a record of what has been used, for what, and when. We are telling you this because it is the honest limit of an opt-out: if a model has already been trained on something, opting out afterwards stops future use but cannot remove what was learned. As of this version, no creator content has ever been used this way.
5. The licence you choose for others
Separately from all of the above, you choose what other people may do with your game. The default is all rights reserved — they may play it and nothing more. You may instead offer it under an open licence.
Two things worth knowing before you choose. Open licences such as Creative Commons are irrevocable: you can stop offering one for the future, but anyone who already relied on it keeps that permission. And a game usually contains fonts, art, sound or music licensed to you personally — those are not yours to re-license to other people, so only choose an open licence if you own everything in the game.
Your choice does not affect section 2. Whatever you pick, we can still host and serve your game.
6. Taking your game down
You can unpublish or delete a game at any time. When you do, we stop serving it and the permission in section 2 ends, with three narrow exceptions:
- Backups made before removal expire on their normal schedule — no more than 30 days.
- Copies already delivered to a player's browser, or cached by services outside our control, are not something we can recall.
- Promotional material already published stays published, though we will stop using your game in new promotion on request.
Scores, comments and other players' activity relating to a removed game are kept or deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.
7. What you promise us
- You made the game, or you otherwise have the right to publish it and to grant the permissions in section 2.
- Everything in it — code, art, fonts, audio, names — is yours to use in this way, including anything generated for you by a tool or model.
- It does not infringe anyone's rights, and does not break the law.
- It complies with our Content Policy.
If someone brings a claim against us because one of these promises was not true, you agree to cover the costs we reasonably incur defending it. We will tell you promptly if that happens and give you the chance to handle it.
8. Moderation
We can refuse, remove, unpublish or restrict any game, at any time, whether or not it breaks a rule. That is not affected by any licence you choose, and it is not a judgement about you. Where we can, we will tell you why and let you appeal. Copyright complaints are handled under our copyright policy.
9. Games published by an agent
If you connect an AI agent or other tool to publish on your behalf, these terms apply to everything it publishes as if you had published it yourself. An agent cannot accept these terms for you — only you can, signed in, on this site.
10. Changes to these terms
If we change what you are permitting, we will ask you to accept the new version before you publish or update anything again. Games you already published stay under the version you accepted at the time — a change here does not reach backwards. If you decline, your existing games stay up and keep working; you simply cannot publish or update until you accept.
We may fix typos and make wording clearer without asking you again. That never changes what you are permitting.
